THE JOB HUNT CONTINUES...

Wow! Two posts in one day. Anyway, I had an appointment for an interview at Uncle Ed's Oil Shop. Yeah, no big deal. I checked Google maps and it's 4.2 miles one way. Easy ride for me. Especially so since they put in that bike path that snakes through Western Michigan University and gets me past a really crappy stretch of Stadium Drive. I noted as I rode that there were a couple of hills that on the way back would make for smooth sailing home.
So, I leave the house at Noon. Yeah, too early. I stopped at Bigby's and had a small Mocha Java to kill some time. Then, to make myself look good I got there about ten minutes early. They weren't busy and I located the manager. He gave me an application and I filled it out.
Then he asked me the question;
Seems company policy is you need to be clean shaven.
He couldn't ask me that before I filled out the application???
I don't have a two day growth of stubble working here, folks. It's pretty obvious it's here to stay. When he asked me if I would shave it for the job I laughed. A good old, Santa Claus style belly laugh. I might have laughed a little too loud.
He smiled shook my hand and I was off back to the compound.
I was right about the hills. They were magnificent.
My route takes me not only through Western Michigan University but also Kalamazoo College. It's a pretty campus and I always take a shortcut through their grounds department. It also has a nice hill.
On my way out to Uncle Ed's Oil Shop I noticed that things were a bit hectic in the parking lot so I was going to go around on the way home.
Then I saw some youngster in a gold cart driving like he was Mario Andretti back to the grounds department.
He hit the curb, bounced the golf cart and lost a rake and a pair of goggles in the road. I went past them without intending to stop.
It seemed a bit dickish so, I turned around and retrieved the items and gave them to one of the guys working.
He seemed grateful.
The rest of the ride was rather uneventful ecept when my bike chain slipped and I noticed that one of the screws holding my bike seat together was gone.
Grrrrrrrrrr!
And the job hunt continues!
